David Pargeter started on the dialysis unit at Peter Moorhead unit in Sheffield and was introduced to Shared Haemodialysis Care in its pilot phase. His journey included peritoneal dialysis and home haemodialysis. He was transplanted about 4 years ago.
He has been a fantastic support to the Shared Haemodialysis Care programme, attending interviews with staff for the Training Journal awards and celebrating success of the team in London. He has been a speaker on over 22 Sheffield courses over the years also travelling to Reading and Northampton for Managers courses where he has been a real partner in care. His honest and very real but humorous story has been a major influence in encouraging staff to return to their units to make the changes he described that had made such a difference to his life.
We fortunately filmed David after presenting him with a special award for his services and so his story can live on.Without doubt he has been an inspiration to many staff and patients as he was to us in the team.
